The Reason for living.

Many times one hears the question "what are we doing here" or "whats the purpose of life" or "whats the reason for living" or other similar questions. Many people search for the answer in all manner of directions and ways and means and follow all kinds of strange cults and religions hoping to find inner peace and fulfilment. They are in essence seeking some power outside of themselves to provide this state of spiritual wellbeing even though they may not realise it. Many seek some kind of assurance of the existance of an afterlife and so they visit mediums and witches and warlocks or any other offshoot of necromancy. The people who seek answers and solutions in these ways may also spend and loose fortunes doing so.
In this modern era (2001) the emphasis to be an achiever and amass great wealth if possible seems to weigh heavily on all generations and the penalties for failure are even greater in some circles. These are only some of what men call the reasons for living or the purpose of life.
There are numerous more reasons for living that are basically defined and decided by one's personal and financial circumstances, geographical location and outlook on life. All the major religions each have their own definitions and answers to the same questions. In secular society the various answers would no doubt fill many books and what would the atheist and agnostic reply to the same question?
Even the angels have a purpose for living and there are different kinds of angels with different puposes for existing, but I'll mention only one kind here, the worshipping kind or rather the ex-worshipping kind
Lucifer or satan was perhaps the most beautiful angel ever created and he and his millions of devils were originally created for the sole purpose of serving and worshipping God. (Ezekiel 28: 13) hence the tabrets and pipes which are instruments for playing music or musick. So to worship was his vocation, his career, his job, he was not qualified for anything else, he thought he was but he was wrong! We are not told how long he was doing the job God made him for. However he got too big for his boots and was consequently booted out of heaven taking a third of all the angels with him (Rev 12 :4) whether they followed him of their own volition or were ejected by God because they were part of satan's retinue
is not clear (to me) but whichever way you look at it heaven now had a big empty space in it and the main worshippers had defected to rebellion so it must have got a lot quieter all of a sudden.
God had made a good few million angels for the express purpose of worshipping Him and they failed by choice. So God designed a plan whereby the end result would be a people who would choose to worship Him because they wanted to and not because they had to, mankind would have a personal reason to want to worship God and that reason is salvation. The alternative does not bear thinking about. Mankind was given a freewill to choose for himself in Eden and the Lord knew he would choose wrong but the Lord also knew that if millions more had the same choice they would choose right hence salvation was made available through the person of the Lord Jesus the Christ the Son of the living God, consequently God said let us make man in our image and likeness and he gave him the power to choose.
So we have a lead fallen angel and millons of lesser fallen angels on their way to a lost eternity forever without God and no way back, then we have fallen man also heading in the same direction and for the same destination but he has been given one chance and one chance only to halt his headlong rush to hell. He must choose to accept Jesus and all that that means.
To choose to accept Jesus means to choose to worship God and be part and parcel of the close relationship and kinship between God and man.
Revelations 4 v11 says this "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."
God has great pleasure in receiving worship. There are many scriptures that require us to worship some of which follow. John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Psalms 147:1 Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Exodus 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
Ephesians 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
1 Chronicles 16:29 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Psalms 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
Psalms 45:11 So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him
Psalms 99:5 Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
Psalms 99:9 Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.
Even If one knows not the way of salvation there cannot be any excuse to deny God our worship as the following verse from the New Testament declares Acts 17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
There are many more scriptures in the Word of God that exhort not only mankind but the whole of creation to worship God. To give glory, honour and praise to God in thought word and deed is to worship Him.
If we take the second half of verse 11 in Rev 4 and the latter half of verse 4 in John 23 and put them together then you could say in reference to mankind for the Father's pleasure they are and were created for the Father seeketh such to worship Him and I don't think this would be taking the two statements out of context. Therefore mankind was made to worship and have a spiritual relationship with the living God and that does not mean shouting hallelujah nonstop for 24/7. It means we show our honour, praise and worship in everything we do that is right and righteous as well as verbal heartfelt praise in the meeting place or the quiet place at home etc. This kind of life can only lived if we have chosen to accept Jesus and all He means. Only His love in us can make this possible, I know from experience. Since mankind can and does perform many wondrous things in and through the power and blood of Jesus, something satan/lucifer could never do, it seems we are much more than just a replacement for him and his devils. Being as we are created in God's image and likeness, and being that Jesus came and died in our place (which He did'nt do for the fallen angels) we are family and therefore closer to God and possibly? more precious than the angels.
When as a parent your child might have said "I love you daddy or mummy" or other things in a similar vein do you remember how pleased you were? Do you remember how much joy you felt when the child laughed that hearty little laugh or took that first step or said that first word (and I don't mean "NO") Imagine the pleasure that the Living God our Heavenly Father gets when we give Him the praise in whatever way can.
So whats the purpose of man's existance or the reason for living ? To love and worship the Living God our heavenly Father. That is His pleasure. The following verses speak of a time yet to come when even the unsaved sinner will worship God
Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Psalms 86:9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.
Isaiah 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
Zechariah 14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Psalms 22:27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
